Book Editing
In academia, we are trained to believe we have to do everything ourselves. We fetishize the struggle. It doesn't have to be that way. Partnering with a trusted editor who knows what you're going through can save you time. And might just save you from losing your mind.
I am a development editor who works with scholars at the early stages of project development or at later stages when your perfectly planned-out book isn't making sense anymore.
If you have a book idea brewing but don't know how to turn it into a bona fide proposal, I can work with you to develop your ideas, target a publisher, and get your proposal accepted by an acquisitions editor. Whether you're an early career researcher trying to turn your dissertation into a book or an advanced scholar who is drowning in personal and professional responsibilities, I can help you find your focus and move your project forward.
Or, if you're past the proposal stage but are stuck, I can help unstick you. Sometimes the way we envision a book's organization and trajectory doesn't work out in practice. Chapters don't make sense; the intro introduces a different book; themes are buried. These issues can lead to paralysis. Don't just sit there.

My PhD to Professor program is designed for new TT faculty members. It's an academic-year group coaching program that combines expert advice with peer support.
I also work one on one with scholars seeking a new academic position, post-docs who want to launch their experience into a faculty role, and faculty who are looking to move to a new university. Whether it's helping edit and target your application materials, interview assistance and practice, or assistance negotiating with administration, I've got your back.
PhD Research Instruction and Training
One of my favorite aspects of being a professor was teaching doctoral research design and proposal development. In recent years, it has become more challenging for programs to deliver this training to their students in an efficient manner. As funding becomes more scarce, doctoral cohorts become smaller, and it becomes hard to justify a full course dedicated to proposal development. As such, many programs place the responsibility for proposal supervision on individual faculty advisors. However, this kind of work is seldom compensated, and often students are left without adequate supervision. Many lose valuable time and energy during this phase of their studies.

Editing Assistance for International Scholars
Are your articles being desk-rejected due to language issues? Don't turn to AI. Many journals are rejecting articles due to AI use as well. Instead, hire a native English speaker to edit your work and ensure that you will never be rejected for language issues again.
Translating your own work into English? Even scholars who are fluent in English will make mistakes that only a native speaker may catch. I've worked with such writers to ensure their work is as powerful and well-written in English as it was in their native language.

Do you provide copyediting and proofreading services?
At this time, we only provide these services for scholars who are translating their work into English. We focus on development editing – helping scholars reimagine, refocus, and reorganize their work.
What are your fees?
Each project is unique and requires a different level of coaching or editing. We will work with you to identify a fair budget for your project. Standard rates are $200/hour (discounts available for early career scholars and group coaching). I charge $500 for an article rejection or R&R analysis and turnaround.
Do you provide discounts to students or junior faculty?
Yes! We have a sliding scale fee structure that discounts our services for emerging scholars.
What payment methods do you accept?
We work with institutional funds and are approved vendors at several universities. We accept Venmo, Zelle, and Wise.
